There are numerous ways you can get here. It just depends on your budget, travel itinery or the type of vacation you are after. Morrocco has a road network of 60.000km. The signs are in French and Arabic.
To get here by car, take the N1 freeway (Tánger-Marrakech), continuing on to the Chichaoua highway (180Km). If you don't stop too much, you can cross this distance in about 10-12 hours. The freeway toll is 75 Dirham.
If you are not using your own car, make sure you have all the relevant papers saying you are authorized to use the other persons car. If you don't have all the documents, you will most likely have trouble at the border and might not be let into the country.
Take car when driving on these roads. Watch out for other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, carts and animals... Finding a camel strolling down the middle of the highway can be amusing or exiting but also dangerous.
Drive carefully, and in winter, watch out for snow and ice, especially in inland areas where temperatures can get very low. |
